Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce thermal stress and stress due to centrifugal force, by providing a cooling chamber in the moving vane of a gas turbine.
CONSTITUTION: The moving vane 14 comprises side walls 25, a peripheral plate 26 and a secured dovetail 16. Coolant injection holes 28 are provided near the inside surfaces of the side walls 25 and connect the cooling chamber 27 to a coolant distribution chamber 17 provided in the dovetail 16. A coolant is introduced into the distribution chamber 17 and injected from the injection holes 28 toward the inside surfaces of the side walls 25 so that a coolant layer is produced on the inside surfaces. The moving vane is thus cooled. A coolant release hole 30 is provided through the peripheral plate 26 and fitted with a boss 29 which projects by a presscribed length. Excess coolant is released through the release hole 30.
