Abstract
PURPOSE: To clearly, beautifully form a pattern of a checked channel, by patterning with a driving roll and a follower roll provided with a tongued-and-grooved pattern in their outer surface, at rolling a patterned metallic material provided with a nonslip projections, etc.
CONSTITUTION: A transferring rolling reduction is given to a material 7 to be rolled, by a patterning roll 9 and a follower roll 8. By thus arranging the patterning roll 9 on the driving side and anothr roll 8 on the follower side, a point P2, wherein the circumferential speed of the driving roll 9 coincides with the surface speed of the material 7, approaches closely to the material releasing point R of the driving roll 9. As a result, so called rubbing up phenomenon, by which the corners in the cross section of the material 7 are formed into an obtuse projections on the run-out side of the rolls 8, 9, is prevented.
