Abstract

PURPOSE: To improve the yield of ingot cutting by combining intended product lengths and actual casting lengths by adding the compensation lengths conforming to quality abnormality thereby controlling the prescribed length cutting between strands.
CONSTITUTION: From the casting information 10 obtained from the conditions of a tundish 1 and a mold 2 and the ingot information 13 obtained from the processes of respective strands, the compensation lengths corresponding to these are determined as quality abnormality information 12, whilist actual casting lengths 14 are obtained by counting of pinch rolls 4 of the processes and production plan information 18 feeds intended production lengths as a production plan instruction 11 to a lower priority computer. In an optimum combination control part 15, the cutting sizes for the optimum combinations over the respective strands are calculated from the intended protect length corrected by the compensation lengths and the actual casting lengths and are fed as outputs 17 to the strands. The deviations between the output values 17 and actual values 16 of the cutting lengths are also fed back to the part 15 in the same way as for the information on quality abnormality.
