Abstract

PURPOSE: To contrive to improve the heat-exchange efficiency by a method wherein a number of mimic pipes are arranged at the location opposite to a partition plate at shell side parallel to heat pipes so as to prevent flows along the outside of heat pipe from channeling at the multitubular type heat exchanger.
CONSTITUTION: The water chamber 1 of the heat exchanger is divided by a partition plate 5 so as to shunt water chamber side fluid (a), which is flowed in from a water chabmer side inlet stand pipe 2, into heat pipes and collect again to the water chamber in order to be discharged from a water chamber side outlet stand pipe 3. On the other hand, at shell side, shell side fluid b is flowed in from a shell side inlet stand pipe 6 and past between properly arranged baffle plates 8 in zigzag so as to be brought into contact with the outer surfaces of heat pipes 4 for the accomplishment of predetermined heat exchange and finally discharged from a shell side outlet stand pipe 7. Furthermore, mimic pipes 12 are provided parallel to the heat pipes 4 in the gap C between the bundles of the heat pipes 4, across which the shell side fluid b flows. The existence of said mimic pipes 12 enable the shell side fluid b to flow nearly uniformly, resulting in improving the heat-exchange efficiency.
