Abstract
PURPOSE:To perform objective numerical evaluation with respect to the degree of rustby detecting the light of only the rust by utilizing the difference in the wavelength of rust and the wavelength of paint film. CONSTITUTION:When a switch 16 is turned on, an optical fiber 3 for optical transmission is lighted to irradiate by a battery 1. When an attachment 5 of a measuring probe 4 is placed on a measuring surface, the density of the measuring surface is detected by means of a photodetecting optical fiber 7 coaxial to the fiber 3. This is passed through a long wave (for example, 670mum) filter 8 and a short wave (for example, 430mum) filter 9, and the outputs from both filters 8, 9 are subtracted and the result is displayed in a display device 14. Since the density of only the rust is detected by cutting the wavelength of the paint film component with the filters of a short wave and a long wave in this way, the decision of high reliability is accomplished.
