Abstract

PURPOSE: To remove the phenol, methanol and formaldehyde in waste liquid contg. phenols by solid culturing Aureovacidium brullance with a porous substrate, adding this in waste water contg. phenols and aerating the waste water.
CONSTITUTION: Aureovacidium brullance belonging to aureovacidium genus is dolid-cultured on a fibrous or porous substrate in the co-presence of methanol and formaldehyde to Aspergillus oryzae-like sulfur granules. In this way, the germs are gown and are adapted to methanol and formaldehyde. If the Aspergillus oryzae-like suflur granules are added to waste liquid contg. phenols contg. methanol and formaldehyde and the liquid is aerated, phenol, methanol and formaldehyde are decomposed and removed.
