CONSTITUTION:A magnetic layer 3 obtained by compounding the magnetic powder, a binder, an additive, etc. is formed on a single surface 2a of a nonmagnetic supporter 2 which forms a base of a magnetic tape 1, a kind of a magnetic recording medium. At the same time, the carbon black of 200mmu-1mu mean single particle diameter with 1m<2>/g-17m<2>/g relative surface area is coated on the other surface 2b of the supporter 2 along with a binder and a back coating material. With this coating material, a back coat layer 4 is formed on the surface 2b.
