Abstract
PURPOSE: To improve a starting performance of the vehicle by a method wherein a lost-motion mechanism is arranged among a sub-gear having less number of teeth than that of a kick follower gear, the kick follwer gear and a driven shaft, and a crank shaft is rotated by an inertia force of the starting system of the vehicle.
CONSTITUTION: Kick follower gear 34 and a sub-gear 36 are rotated through a kick driving gear 32 when an engine is started and when the kick shaft 30 is rotated, a rotation of the gear 34 is performed such that a retainer 27 integral with the gear 34 is moved by an idling angle θ in a normal rotational direction A due to the fact that the projection 35a arranged at the side of the gear 34 of the lost-motion mechanism 35 is not engaged with the projection 35b arranged at the side of the driven shaft 23, thereby an one-way clutch 28 is left open. In turn, the sub-gear 36 which is rotated simultaneously causes the driven shaft 23 to be rotated by an amount corresponding to a backlash of a row of gears engaging with a low speed transmission. Kick force transmission shaft 10 engagment of the mechanism 35 causes a rotation of the transmission shaft 10 to be increased, thereby a crank shaft 2 is rotated through a clutch 14 and then the starting system continues to rotate under an action of inertia.
