Abstract

PURPOSE: To increase the lift of the rubber through a boundary layer control by a method wherein a flap valve is operated by the wake flow behind a propeller so that a slit for ejecting a fluid is changed over and a jet flow is produced at the peripheral surface of the rubber.
CONSTITUTION: Holes 20 are provided at front parts of the rudder plate 7, and the wake flow behind the propeller is led into a pilot valve box 17. The flap valve 18 is operated by the backward flow so that the fluid fed from a main pipe 16 is directed into a chamber 12. The chamber 12 is provided with the slits 11 for ejecting the fluid to the peripheral surface of the rubber. The fluid thus ejected acts to control the boundary layer, thereby increasing the lift and enhancing the steerability.
