Abstract

PURPOSE:To accurately and quickly measure the center thickness of a lens, by a method wherein a cup-shaped lower holder having an upper end open and a cup-shaped upper holder having a contact edge are provided, and the distance therebetween is obtained by means of the upper holder. CONSTITUTION:The measuring apparatus is provided with a cup-shaped lower holder 1 having an upper end open. An annular contact edge 2 is formed at the upper end of the lower holder 1. Above the lower holder 1, a cup-shaped upper holder 14 is vertically movably provided having a contact edge 13 to contact with the above-mentioned contact edge 2. Then, a lens 12 to be measured is mounted on the lower holder 1. Centering is conducted by means of a centering device, and the distance between the upper and lower holders 14, 1 is obtained by means of the upper holder 14, thereby to make it possible to obtain the center thickness of the lens. The operation is simple, while the measured value is accurate, and the time needed for measurement is short.
