Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent drop of efficiency by constituting vanes with moving guide vanes and stationary guide vanes and turning thereby the circumferential component of the velocity again into the pressure.
CONSTITUTION: A movable 20 and a stationary 22 guide vane are installed in combination on a draft pipe 11 at the downstream of a runner 10 in a water wheel. As the movable guide vane 20 is so constructed as able to change the guide angle by operating a ring 24, through rotation made by a link mechanism 23 and a shaft 21, even a flow at an absolute velocity 4 having large circumferential component does not cause pressure drop, because the guide angle of the movable guide vane 20 is changed to left inclined position to equip the flow with an absolute velocity 5, and thus drop of the efficiency can be prevented.
