Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable a pump to maintain high efficiency operation for a wide range of flow changes at minimum vane operating force, etc., by arranging a movable vane in tandem configuration and using a fixed vane and a variable pitch vane for entry side and exit side, respectively.
CONSTITUTION: A movable vane of an impeller is manufactured separately from a boss 5 and exists together with a variable pitch vane 7 attached onto the boss 5 at the exit side in such a manner as to allow the movable vane to freely turn around oWo' axis, and 6 is a fixed vane at the entry side. The impeller rotates centering on a main shaft 8 allowing fluid body to flow in the direction of an arrow 9. A shaft 10 of the variable pitch vane 7 is connected to a vane-operating mechanism and adjusted by an oil hydraulic unit to maintain an appropriate vane position suitable for the pump operating condition. In this mechanism, a pump is able to maintain high efficiency operation for a wide range of flow changes as depicted in the sketch. Fruther, curves a, b and c in the sketch denote 'this invention', 'entirely variable pitch vane' and 'fixed vane', respectively.
