Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled composition excellent in water resistance, impact resistance, storage stability, film transparency, etc., containing a resin prepared by grafting a (meth)acrylate ester monomer onto a specified polymer in the form of a solution in an organic solvent.
CONSTITUTION: A film-forming composition containing a resin prepared by grafting a (meth)acrylate ester monomer, e.g., methyl (meth)acrylate or 2-ethylhexyl (meth)acrylate, onto a polymer having a cohesive energy of 0.8W1.6kcal per 4 carbon atoms of the main chain, e.g., polybutadiene or natural rubber, in the form of a solution in a solvent, e.g., toluene, acetone or methanol. This composition is excellent in chemical resistance such as water resistance, acid resistance, or alkali resistance, mechanical properties such as abrasion resistance and impact resistance, storage stability such as nonprecipitating property, noncoagulating property or nongelling property and film transparency and further excellent in drying, levelling and defoaming during film formation.
