Abstract
PURPOSE:To obtain a vane side seal of contactless low torque not depending upon thermal expansion of a member, by placing a movable element between a vane and side plate. CONSTITUTION:A movable element 22 is inserted between a vane 20 and side plate 26. If the vane 20 travels in the direction of an arrow mark A, pressure in a vane chamber at the side of high pressure is acted upon back side part 27 of the movable element 22, to apply force fc to the movable element 22. While a power step bearing is formed between the movable element 22 and the side plate 26, and positive pressure is generated by shearing force due to a wedge oil film to apply force fB to the movable element. In this way, clearance delta1 between the movable element 22 and the side plate 26 can be always maintained to a constant value despite thermal expansion of the vane 20 and the like, thus a vane side seal not depending upon thermal expansion of members can be obtained.
