Abstract

PURPOSE: To dehydrate sludge approximately uniformly and thoroughly in the thickness direction and to form the cake which is easy to be stripped from filter cloths by performing the pressure feeding and pressurizing of the sludge dividedly in plural times and growing the cake after the pressure dehydration to required thickness.
CONSTITUTION: First, while no water pressure is acted upon a pressurizing chamber 3, the force feeding of sludge into a filter chamber 6 through a sludge feed port 14 is started, thence water of pressure slightly higher than the sludge force feed pressure is forcibly fed into the chamber 3 with a high pressure pump 10 via a regulating tank 8. A diaphragm 2 is elastically deformed by this pressurized water, whereby the sludge in the chamber 6 is pressed and dehydrated. Next, the pressurized water in the chamber 3 is returned into a feed water tank 11 through the tank 8 to retreat and reset the diaphragm, and the sludge is again forcibly fed between the cake 16 under formation and the filber cloth 5. Thence, pressurized water is forcibly fed into the chamber 3, whereby the sludge is dehydrated under pressure. The cake is grown to required thickness by repeating this sludge force feeding and the pressure dehydration.
