Abstract
PURPOSE:To reduce the size of a microprogram controller on a next address specification system, by decreasing the number of program words, by performing arithmetic by the same instruction even when performing an operand fetch by different instructions. CONSTITUTION:A microinstruction is provided with a sequence specification part SEQ, and starting-word information and ending-word information on the 1st and 2nd kinds are specified by the specification part SEQ. When a microinstruction whose specification part SEQ indicates an ending word is stored in a microinstruction register 1, the contents of an instruction buffer 2 are specified as the next address part NA and multiway branch part MBRA of a control storage address register 4. When a microinstruction whose sequence specification part SEQ specifies the starting-word information on the 1st kind while the multiway branch specification part MBRA specified a multiway branch is stored in the microinstruction register 1, original data is rewritten in the multiway branch part MBRA of the control storage address register 4.
