Abstract

PURPOSE:To produce a foamed extrudate having a uniformly foamed inside part and a smooth skin by a method wherein a passage for resin material in an extrusion die is composed of a tapered throttle part and a parallel orifice part, and the inside peripheral surface of the passage is made of a material having a low coefficient of friction. CONSTITUTION:A thermoplastic resin material containing a foaming agent is fed to a foaming die 4 while being throttled to inhibit foaming, and then it is passed through a plurality of throttle holes 11 for foaming or a slot 12 for the skin. The resin material passed through the holes 11 is foamed due to a rapid reduction in pressure, while the resin material passed through the slot 12 enter the tapered throttle part 14 of the extrusion die 5 with almost no foaming and reaches the parallel orifice part 5 while being throttled along the inside peripheral surface with small frictional resistance. Accordingly, an extrusion head for foamed extrudate is obtained which enables to produce an extrudate having a uniformly foamed inside part and a smooth skin.
