PURPOSE:To obtain a desired shape easily by feeding a foamable resin into a first passage of which the tip portion is not throttled so as to preshape the resin, exposing the resin to the atmosphere, and providing a resistance to the movement of the resin in a second passage so as to make the resin fill up the first passage. CONSTITUTION:A melt 4 of a foamable thermoplastic resin is extruded through the mouthpiece 3 of an extruder 1 in a shape having a larger width as compared with the thickness, foamed and restricted in cross-sectional shape from around in a first passage 6, and largely thickened on the inlet side 61 of the passage 6. On the outlet side 62, the foamed body is slightly thickened or kept as it is, while totally expanded widthwise, and then exposed to the atmosphere. Then the foamed body is released widthwise in a second passage, and pressed thicknesswise to provide a resistance to the movement and to re-form the body.
