Abstract

PURPOSE:To recognize various patterns in originals, by picking up a long line component in main/sub-scanning and discriminating by this long line component if a frame is constituted. CONSTITUTION:An input video signal is binarized at a binarizing device 1 and applied to line shift registers 21-24. The output of the registers is inputted to a ''1'' counter 4 and a long line component position generating circuit 8 from an OR circuit 3. The discriminated output of a long line component candidate is stored in a memory 7 with a latch circuit 5 and a comparator 6. The position information from a long line position generating circuit 8 is stored in a memory 9. On the other hand, an output of a binary circuit 1 is given to a shift register 10 and inputted to a CPU through an OR circuit 11, counter 12, digital comparator 13, memory 14, long line component position information generating circuit 15 and memory 16. Thus, the CPU discriminates the frame pattern in an original and makes the designation of region for objective edition.
