Abstract

PURPOSE:To shorten the transmission time of a facsimile, etc., by repeating transmission only when it is detected that frame information high in importance has a transmission error. CONSTITUTION:In transmission part 1, a signal obtained from picture signal generating circuit 11 is coded and stored in memory 12 in sequence. At this time, this coded signal is given a resending request discrimination code according to its importance. This signal in memory 12 is read out, on a unit of a fixed number of bits, to code generating adding circuit 13, where a block number and error detection code are added, and it is sent out by way of interface circuit 14 and transmission line 3. At the reception part, on the other hand, the input from interface circuit 21 is supplied to resending request discrimination circuit 23, where its importance is discriminated, and when it is high in importance and has an error detected, a resending refuest signal 24 is generated and sent back to transmission part 1. Then, this resending request is detected 15 and a siganl read out from memory 12 is sent again. In this way, the transmission signal can be shortened.
