Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain an apparatus for detecting the position of a body driven by a tensed wire, by connecting the driven body with a detecting wire different from a driving wire, and operating a position detector through said detecting wire thereby enabling precise position detection.
CONSTITUTION: When a driving drum 3 is rotated by a motor 4, the body 1 to be driven is moved either to the right or left through the driving wire 2A put over idle puleys 5A. The movement of the body 1 is transmitted via the detecting wire 2B put over idle pulleys 5B to the position detecting drum 6 that is directly connected to a rotary encoder 7 which issues an electrical signal corresponding to the position of the body 1. In this arrangement, with respect to the position detecting wire 2B the rigidity and weight can be reduced extremely, and as the vibrations of the wire B can be suppressed, highly precise position detection can be performed.
