Abstract
PURPOSE:To provide a low m.p. brazing filler metal for brazing of stainless steel by covering Sn on the surface of a core material consisting basically of Pd-Ni and contg. Be, Cr, Mn, Si, Sn, etc. CONSTITUTION:A Pd-Ni alloy consisting basically of 60:40 Pd:Ni ratio and contg. 0.05-0.5% Be, 1-10% Cr, 1-10% Cu, 1-5% Mn, 0.05-3.0% Si, 0.5- 5.0% Sn independently or in combination is used as a core material and an Sn covering layer is formed by vapor deposition or plating on the surface thereof. If stainless steel is brazed by using this as a brazing filler metal, this brazing filler metal has a low m.p. and superior wettability, thereby permitting easy brazing at low temps.
