Abstract

PURPOSE: The titled composition with excellent adhesion and cohesive power slightly reduced in the cohesive power at a relatively high temp., which is obtd. by the stepwise emulsion polymn. of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer and an acrylic monomer in the dispersion of a room temp.-adherent acrylic polymer.
CONSTITUTION: The titled composition is obtd. by the addition of an ethylenically unsaturated monomer capable of giving a homopolymer or copolymer of glass transition temp. ≥273°K to the water dispersion of a room temp.-adherent acrylic polymer of glass transition temp. ≤250°K obtd. by the first-step emulsion polymn. of an acrylic unsaturated monomer such as one primarily composed of an alkyl ester between (meth)acrylic acid and a 12C or lower alcohol, followed by the second-step emulsion polymn. and then the addition of an acrylic unsaturated monomer capable of giving a homopolyer or copolymer of glass transition temp. ≤250°K having adhesion at room temp. like that in the first step, followed by the third-step emulsion polymn.
