Abstract
PURPOSE: To prepare the titled composition having excellent punchability, and suitable for pressure-sensitive label, by polymerizing a specific acrylic ester monomer mixture and a mixture of specific monomers such as styrene, vinyl acetate, etc. under specific conditions, and crosslinking the resulting polymer.
CONSTITUTION: First, the polymerization of either (A) 50W95pts.wt. of a monomer mixture composed of 0.1W10wt% of an active functional monomer (e.g. acrylic acid), ≥60wt% of a (4W12C alkyl) acrylate (e.g. butyl acrylate), etc. (pref. the resulting polymer has a grass transition point (Tg) of -15W-50°C) or (B) 5W 50pts.wt. of a monomer mixture containing ≥60wt% of (1W4C alkyl) methacrylate, methyl acrylate, styrene, vinyl acetate, acrylonitrile and/or acrylamide (pref. the Tg of the resulting polymer is 10W70°C), is carried out. When the rate of polymerization of the polymerized component has reached 50%, the other component is added thereto, and the polymerization is continued. After the completion of the polymerization, the polymer is crosslinked.
