Abstract
PURPOSE: To obtain the titled substance of high purity in separating the titled substance from a fermentation liquor prepared by the fermentation method, by heat-treating the fermentation liquor in the presence of active carbon at a specific temperature, and adjusting the pH to a specific value or below with an inorganic acid.
CONSTITUTION: A dicarboxylic acid prepared by the fermentation method is previously filtered, centrifuged, etc. to separate and remove microbial cells, and the fermentation liquor is then heat-treated in the presence of active carbon at 60W100°C. An inorganic acid, e.g. sulfuric acid or hydrochloric acid, is added to the treated fermentation liquor to adjust the pH thereof to 4 or below. Thus, the aimed dicarboxylic acid of high purity can be deposited.
