Abstract

PURPOSE:To increase frequency response range up to a high frequency band, by reducing the weight of a driving part by obtaining a beam which centers on the optical axis of a focus lens by displacing a mirror synchronizing with the parallel movement of the focus lens in a disk radius direction, and by making its reflected light incident to a disk. CONSTITUTION:Light emitted from a laser 7 is passed through a beam splitter 9 to obtain a parallel beam, which is reflected by a mirror 12 and then passed through an lambda/4 plate 10 and a focus lens 5 to be focused on a disk 1. Its reflected light travels backward, and is reflected by the beam splitter 9 to be focused on a detector 2 through a cylinder lens 8. A focus error signal and a tracking error signal are detected as an output difference (B1+B3)-(B2+B4) and a (B1+ B4)-(B2+B3). The tracking error signal is applied to driving devices which drives the focus lens 5 in a direction X and the mirror in an S, thereby moving the lens 5 and mirror 12 synchronously. Consequently, the weight of the driving part is reduced and frequency response range is increased.
