Abstract

PURPOSE: To reduce the size of an electromagnetic driving means consisting of a coil and magnet for driving a pickup arm, by providing a magnetic fluid in a magnetic gap wherein the coil of the electromagnetic driving means is arranged.
CONSTITUTION: An electromagnetic driving means which drives a pickup arm 1 constitutes a linear motor by a magnet 9 stuck to a field part 10 fitted to a housing 18 and a coil 11 wound around a bobbin 15. A magnetic fluid 14 is provided in a magnetic gap between the magnet 9 and coil 11 to reduce the temperature rise of the coil 11 and also to further increase the damping of the linear motor to the pickup arm 1 by the electromagnetic fluid. Thus, the constitution of the electromagnetic driving means is reduced in size.
