Abstract

PURPOSE: To obtain a hollow fiber, useful for hemodialysis, etc., and having improved springiness and property to remove medium-molecular weight substances, by extruding a cellulose ester solution in a specific mixed solvent through an annular slit into a filamentary material, and simultaneously introducing a specific liquid into the internal hollow part of the filamentary material.
CONSTITUTION: A cellulose ester, e.g. cellulose acetate, is dissolved in a mixed solvent of acetone with formamide, and 1W12wt% water is added thereto. The resultant solution is then extruded through an annular slit into a filamentary material. The filamentary material is then coagulated in a coagulation bath, e.g. water bath, while introducing any of (a) a solvent for the cellulose ester and/or a swelling agent, (b) a concentrated aqueous solution of a salt and (c) monoterpene or a liquid containing the monoterpene simultaneously into the internal hollow part of the filamentary material to give the aimed hollow fiber.
