Abstract

PURPOSE: To perform biological nitrification and denitrification of good efficiency with a single tank by dividing the inside of a treating tank provided with an air lift pipe to a nitrifying part and an NOx reducing part by means of a partition wall, and distributively flowing the outflow liquid from the air lift pipe into each part.
CONSTITUTION: In a biological nitrifying and denitrifying apparatus for waste water such as org. sewage and sewerage using solid particles such as active carbon as carriers, the inside of a treating tank 1 is divided to a nitrifying part 11 and an NOx reducing part 12, and an air lift pipe 5 is provided on one of them. The outflow liquid of this air lift pipe 5 is distributed to the respective parts 11, 12 by distribution pipes 7. If raw water is led to the NOx reducing part 12, it is flowed upward by the ascending force of the air bubbles of the air lift pipe 5. The greater part of the liquid and granular solids flow down from an overflow device 6 to the nitrifying part 11, and the rest flows again into the reducing part 12. During this time, NH4-N is reduced to NOx-N in the nitrifying part 11 and is further efficiently reduced to N2 gas in the reducing part 12.
