Abstract

PURPOSE: To restrict fatigue due to preceding exposure of titanium dioxide, by adding one or more kinds of catechol and its derivatives to a photosensitive layer consisting chiefly of titanium dioxide and a resin binder.
CONSTITUTION: A photosensitive agent is dispersed into a resin binder by 35W 65vol% based on the binder, coated on a conductive substrate in a thickness of 10W 30μm, and dried to form a photosensitive material. At that time, one or more kinds of catechols represented by the formula (X is halogen, hydroxy, sulfo, nitro, or the like, and n is 0, 1 or 2) and these salts are added into the coating solution of the photosensitive material by 0.001W1mol% based on TiO2. The electrophotographic photosensitive material with these catecols added permits deterioration of charging characteristics and photosensitivity due to preceding exposure to be remarkably reduced.
