Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable a frosting detection with a high accuracy by detecting the current or power of a fan motor attached to an air heat exchanger with a cooling function, comparing the detected value with a reference value, and providing a defrosting command signal on the basis of the comparison result.
CONSTITUTION: The current of the fan motor attached to the air heat exchanger within a refrigerant circuit is detected by an ammeter 19, the output signal of which is sent to a voltage signal converter 20, rectifying and smoothing circuit 21, and A/D converter 22, where the output signal is converted into a digital signal corresponding to the fan motor current. Then, the digital signal is inputted into an integrating device 28 within a controller 27. On the other hand, the output signal from a transformer 23 which decreases the voltage across the fan motor is also converted into a digital signal and inputted into the integrating device 28. The integrating device 28 integrates these inputs to obtain an apparent power value. A comparator 30 compares the apparent power value with a reference value stored in a memory 29, and when a condition that the integrated value is higher than the reference value continues for a predetermined period of time, provides a signal to operate a delay timer 31 to generate an output for actuating a defrosting device 34.
