Abstract

PURPOSE: To promote the airtightness and durability of a bearing seal by adding abrasion-resisting and friction-reducing materials to an elastic seal made of synthetic rubber materials.
CONSTITUTION: Abrasion-resisting and friction-reducing additives with high mechanical strength such as PTFE, MOS2, graphite, and others are properly mixed into an elastic seal 8 made of synthetic rubber materials within a range of about 5W50%, and the elastic seal 8 thereof is integrated with a core metal 7 by fusing so as to build up a seal 6. This elastic seal 8 permits to reduce frictional resistances of a main lip 9a and a dust lip 9b and improve sliding functions of a bearing 2 and a housing 5 to reduce the torque of the bearing, while reducing the generation of heat and the abrasion. Besides, interferences of the main lip 9a and the dust lip 9b on the bearing 2 and the housing 5 are increased by increase of their contacting margine, and the airtightness of the seal is highly improved.
