Abstract

PURPOSE: To enhance the compression strength of the steel pipe by finely dividing an austenite crystal particle size to control tensile stresss of an inner surface of the steel pipe.
CONSTITUTION: The steel pipe is hardened and tempered by high frequency induction heating to finely divide the austenite crystal particle size to ASTM N08 or more as well as to adjust a density of a water amount in water cooling after hardening and tempering and, thereby, the residual stress of the steel pipe is rendered to tensile in the inner surface and compressive in the outer surface.
