Abstract

PURPOSE:To efficiently enhance the crushing strength of a steel pipe by specifying the conditions for making fine austenite crystal grains and for removing the residual stress generated at cold correction process. CONSTITUTION:A rolled steel pipe is heat-treated with an induction heating process to adjust its austenite grains to more than ASTM No.8. After cold correction, the residual stress is removed by annealing in inductive heating process at 500 deg.C or more, maintained for 10sec to 5min, under the conditions of 15X10<3=M<=17X 10<3> and M=T(16.5+logt) where T is heating temperature ( deg.K), t is maintained time (s), and M is parameter for stress removing annealing. By this process, the crushing strength can be enhanced to more than API Bul5C2 without deteriorating the resistance to sulfide corrosion cracking.
