Abstract

NEW MATERIAL:The titled compound of formula I (R is 2W10C alkyl, 2W10C alkenyl, aryl).
EXAMPLE: 3-Methyl-3-butenyl acetate.
USE: A durable perfumery or scent modifier for soap, detergent, cosmetic or sanitary goods.
PREPARATION: The reaction of 3-methyl-3-buten-1-ol of formula I with a carboxylic acid or its reactive derivative of (RCO)nX (X is hydroxyl, halogen, oxygen atom, where when X is hydroxyl or halogen atom, n is 1 and, when X is oxygen atom, n is 2), preferably in an amount of 1W3 times the molar quantity of the butenol is conducted, when necessary, in the presence of a catalyst such as sulfuric acid, e.g., at -10W150°C.
