Abstract

PURPOSE: To efficiently press glass plate pieces fully automatically by moving the glass plate pieces to be worked which have been heated in a heating furnace on receiving dies and lowering the plunger punch of a pressing device thereby forming the same.
CONSTITUTION: The glass plate pieces A to be worked are placed on the receiving dies 18 of conveying cradles 15 disposed at required intervals on a conveyor 1, and are fed into a heating furnace 10 where they are heated to the temp. at which they can be pressed. When the cradle 15 reaches the position just before the outlet of the furnace 10, both right and left cradle lifting bodies 35 are drawn toward the center by guiding supports 34 to lift the cradle 15 from the under surface of the bottom plate of its base frame 16 into the groove 38' of a receiving plate 38, whereby the bodies 35 are lifted from the conveyor 1. At the same time, a traveling base plate 33 is moved to the pressing position (b) along a guide rail 31, and cooperatively with this, the lever rod 27 at the end of the pressing device 20 lowers a plunger punch 25 via an operating rod 24 and the softened plate piece A is pressed to a required shape by the plunger punch 25 and the receiving die 18.
