Abstract

PURPOSE:To effectively recover the sensible heat of slag, by producing combustible gas by reacting a carbonaceous material with a gasifying agent by use of the sensible heat contained in the slag, in the course of producing balas by solidifying molten slag. CONSTITUTION:Combustible gas is produced by introducing molten slag from a slag pot 1 into a reaction tank 2, and reacting coke fed from a hopper 5 and steam introduced from a nozzle 7 by use of the sensible heat of the molten slag. Next, the molten slag is allowed to flow in a laminar flow along a rotary drum 11; solidified on the external periphery of the drum 11; and then transferred to the packed layer 18 of a tank for recovering the sensible heat of hot balas. Then, hot carrier gas having a high H2O partial pressure is introduced from the bottom of the packed layer 18. The gas receives heat from the hot balas to form hot gas. This hot gas is reacted with coke powder fed from a hopper 23 to produce water gas.
