Abstract

PURPOSE:To attain available utilization of powdered coke and sensible heat of high temperature unburned gas by a method wherein coke is subjected to red-hot heating by sensible heat of high temperature reductive gas at converter or the like and sprayed with steam to generate aqueous gas. CONSTITUTION:A converter gas based on CO generated when a converter is blown in is introduced at about 1300-1400 deg.C to a sensible heat recovery apparatus comprising a powdered coke hopper 7, a coke transfer layer 8, a coke chamber 9 or the like and subjected to contact heat exchange with powdered coke through plural openings provided in a transfer layer 8. Coke is subjected to red-hot heating and piled on a grate 16. Steam is injected from a nozzle 15 to react coke and an aqueous gas based on CO and H2. The above described aqueous gas is combined with a converter gas and sent to a converter gas recovery apparatus to utilize availably. An excessive powder obtained after coke screening in an ironworks can be also utilized availably.
