Abstract

PURPOSE:To automatically control the thickness in order to improve thickness accuracy, responsibility, and safety, by controlling the thickness if the thickness deviation on the run-out side is larger than the presetted reference deviation, and by controlling the draft percentage if the former is smaller than the latter. CONSTITUTION:The length signal is produced from the pulse generator 10 for measuring the feed- in side length, and is inputted to each of the feed-in side length counters 11, 12, respectively for the thickness controller (AGC) and the draft percentage controller (ARC). The run-out side sheet length is detected by the pulse generator of the touch roll touching the deflector roll 42, and the length signal is inputted to the rolling reduction arithmetic circuit 70 through the run-out side length counters 21, 22, for AGC and ARC respectively; then, the output deviation signal DELTAx obtained from outputs of counters 21, 22, is produced from the circuit 70. If the deviation signal of the AGC output arithmetic circuit is larger than the presetted reference value of deviation, this deviation signal DELTAx is inputted to the hydraulic screw down type servo-mechanism 90; if the former is smaller than the latter, the deviation signal DELTAx of the ARC output arithmetic circuit is inputted to the mechchanism 90, and the electro-hydraulic servo-valve 91 controls the screw down motion of the hydraulic screw down cylinder 92 so as to make the deviation signal DELTAx always zero.
