Abstract

PURPOSE:To prevent defects of a picture element recorded on a recording medium from being remarkably conspicuous by a method wherein a recording element arranged along a scanning line is moved along said scanning line, and a driving time of the recording element is caused to change at every scanning line. CONSTITUTION:With main scanning performed by the rotation of a drum 11 and with auxiliary scanning performed through the movement of a recording head 5 over a carriage support 7, a recording picture is formed based on recording signals sent from a controller 3 through a signal wire 4. Nozzles A, B, C, and D are positioned away by the distances corresponding to 5 picture elements. Each nozzle is regulated by means of a controller 3 consisting of a shift register, a shift pulse generator, a switch signal generator and the like. A drive nozzle at a starting time of each auxiliary scanning changes according to the switching signal, and an adjoining picture element b is recorded by a different nozzle, whereby picture element defects A in the picture element b do not show more clearly in comparision with those in a picture element a.
