Abstract

PURPOSE: To enable simultaneous measurement of the curvature and roundness of a body to be inspected which has a round cross section by using a rotational angle detector and a plurality of optical position detecting devices.
CONSTITUTION: Light sources 11, 12 and 13 which are the optical position detecting devices and photoreceiving parts 21, 22 and 23 corresponding to the former respectively are set in opposition to each other with a steel pipe 1 between, and furthermore three sets of the position detectors comprising, respectively, one light source and one photoreceiving part are provided separately from each other in the axial direction of the steel pipe 1. Position signals generated by photoreceiving parts 21, 22 and 23 respectively are sent to an operation part 2, which is connected with the rotational angle detector 4 and receives a signal showing the rotational angle of the steel pipe 1, while also receiving signals showing the positions of three places in the center and at both ends of the pipe 1 which are located in the same angular part thereof and apart from each other in the axial direction thereof. These position signals are given to a subtraction circuit or an addition circuit fo find an amount of curvature, and the signal resulting therefrom is sent to an indication device to be indicated.
