Abstract

PURPOSE: To make only hydrocarbon vapor to be selectively and efficiently absorbed and dissolved in crude oil, by a method wherein inert gas and light hydrocarbons generated during the receiving of the crude oil is subjected to an absorption treatment under pressure.
CONSTITUTION: A mixed gas of inert gas and light hydrocarbons contg. mist generated within a tank 12, when crude oil is discharged from a tanker 11 to the oil tank 12, is fed to an intake vapor separator 7 where a liquid is separated. Then the liquid is returned to the tank 12. Crude oil vapor is compressed to at least 4kg/cm2G, pref. at least 7kg/cm2G by means of a compressor 2 and then fed to an absorption tower 1. Crude oil 10 in a crude oil buffer tank 3 is compressed to the same pressure as that of the above crude oil vapor by means of a pump 4 and then introduced into the absorption tower 1. The compressed crude oil vapor and the compressed crude oil are supplied to the tower 1 in such a proportion as to give a mole ratio of gas of the crude oil vapor to liquid of the crude oil (absorbent) of 2mol or more to one mole, pref. 5mol or more to one mole. Liquid withdrawn from the absorption tower 1 is introduced into a flash drum 5 where a pressure of at least 2kg/cm2G, pref. at least 2.5kg/cm2G is kept. Fresh crude oil in an amount of 20mol or more per mole of the above liquid withdrawn from the tower 1, is introduced into the drum 5 where the fresh crude oil is mixed with the liquid withdrawn from the tower 1. Then the mixt. is introduced into the oil tank 12.
