Abstract

PURPOSE: A flame retardant polyether amide resin composition with excellent mechanical and electrical characteristics, which is prepared by compounding an aromatic polyether amide with a polyamide consisting of an aromatic dibasic acid component and an aliphatic diamine component.
CONSTITUTION: 100pts.wt. of a polyether polyamide having a repeating unit of formula I (wherein R1WR4 are each H, a lower alkyl, a lower alkoxy, Cl or Br; R5 and R6 are each H, methyl, ethyl, trifluoromethyl or trichloromethyl; Ar is phenylene, hydroxydiphenylene sulfonyldiphenylene, biphenylene or naphthylene), is compounded with 1W100pts.wt. of a polyamide of formula II (wherein Ar' is phenylene, sulfodiphenylene, hydroxydiphenylene, biphenylene or naphthylene; X is a 5W10C alkylene).
