Abstract

PURPOSE: A composition capable of being molded in a molten state useful as fibers or films, etc., having high rigidity and strength without lowering its properties even at high temperature, obtained by biending a wholly aromatic polyamide with an aromatic group-containing polyamide.
CONSTITUTION: A wholly aromatic polyamide having an intrinsic viscosity of ≥0.2, e.g., poly-p-phenylene terephthalamide, etc. is blended with an aromatic group-containing polyamide capable of being molded in a molten state, having a melting point of 150W350°C and an intrinsic viscosity of ≥0.40, e.g., a polyamide of an aliphatic diamine with an aromatic dicarboxylic acid, or a polyamide consisting of an aromatic polyamide unit shown by the formula (R1 and R2 are H, or lower alkyl; X and Y are phenylene, naphthylene, or biphenylene, etc.), having a relatively low melting point in such a way that the condition shown by the formula 0.5≤C2.[η]≤200 (C is a weight % of the wholly aromatic polyamide in the composition;[η]is an intrinsic viscosity of the wholly aromatic polyamide) is satisfied.
