Abstract
PURPOSE: To reduce the thickness of a tape driving device by shortening the length of the axial direction of a capstan, thus realizing a miniature tape recorder.
CONSTITUTION: The height of the capstan 2 is set smaller than the conventional one and then formed so that the upper end face of the capstan is positioned at the middle part of the height in the width direction of the tape 3 which is held by the cassette half 1. The width of the pinch roller 4 is also reduced, and the upper half of the width of the roller 4 presses the tape 3 between the roller 4 and the capstan 2. Thus the tape 3 is made to travel. The lower half of the roller 4 touches directly the capstan 2 to transmit an accurate torque. A part of the upper edge side of the tape 3 is driven with no contact with the capstan 2 and the roller 4. Thus the height in the longer direction of the capstan 2 can be recuced without lowering the performance by an amount equivalent to the degree of reduction of the capstan 2. As a result, a thin and compact structure is realized for a tape recorder.
