Abstract

PURPOSE: To prevent the by-production biuret which is harmful to crop, in the granulation of urea from molten, urea, by adding fine urea powder to the molten urea.
CONSTITUTION: In the preparation of granular urea by spraying molten urea to nucleus particles (of urea) in a rotary drum, a rotary pan, a jet-stream tank, etc., fine urea powder is added to the molten urea before feeding to the granulation apparatus. The addition of the powdery urea prevents the by-production of biuret which occurs by heating and melting urea even for a short time. The mixing of the powdery urea may be carried out by melting the urea incompletely and leaving a part of the powdery urea undissolved. For example, the amount of by-produced biuret is very small even by storing urea in a melting tank at 137W132°C for 1W30min.
