Abstract

PURPOSE: To provide a carrier of a long life for the magnetic brush developer, which gives adequate charging amount to the toner by containing a specific amount of porous carbon black having more than specific value of surface area and oil absorption amount in a binder resin.
CONSTITUTION: The carrier contg. 3W50pts.wt. of the porous carbon black of ≥850m2/g in surface area by an N2 adsorption method and ≥280ml/100g in DBP (dibutyl phthalate) oil absorption amount based on 100pts.wt. resin (one or more kinds of thermosetting type acrylic resin, polyamide resin, etcl) is made. Iron powder, glass, etc. are used for the core of this carrier. This carrier gives good charging to the toner, has less change in the surface state of the carrier owing to friction, is long in life and gives good images.
