Abstract

PURPOSE:To eliminate a braking mechanism such as a brake or the like by forming two traveling magnetic field moving toward a stopping point at both sides around a center as a stopping point and forming a DC magnetic field in the vicinity of the stopping point. CONSTITUTION:An AC current is so flowed as to generate two traveling magnetic fields 6, 6' in reverse direction moving toward arrows A, B, that is, stopping points 2b at coils 3, 3' at the boundary of the stopping point 2b. An article 5 moves by the forces F, F' due to the magnetic fields 6, 6' and when its center approximately coincides with the stopping point 2b of the stator 2, and when the forces F, F' are balanced, the article 5 is stopped. If the Ac current flowing through the coils 3, 3' is interrupted and a DC current is flowed through the coils 3a, 3a' at the nearest to the stopping point thereby generating the DC magnetic field when the article 5 is stopped, the aritcle 5 is retained at the stopping position 2b by the DC magnetic field.
