Abstract

PURPOSE: To form an oriented film (also used as an electrode protective film) which is excellent in waterproof property and effective for elevating the life, on the electrode substrate of the liqid crystal display element, by using a high molecular compound of the specific epoxy-modified polyamide.
CONSTITUTION: Aromatic tetracarboxylic acid bianhydride (for instance, pyromellitic acid bianhydride) and aromatic diamine compound (for instance 4,4'- diaminodiphenyl ether) are made to react in the ratio of approx. 1:1W2 of molar fraction in an organic solvent at approximately 50°C or below, in order to obtaine polyamide acid (A) of approximately 5W60pts.wt., and an epoxy compound (for instance, bisphenol A type epoxy resin) (B) of approximately 95W50pts.wt. is made to react, and as a result, a high molecular compound of epoxy modified polyamide is formed. After that, an organic solvent solution of said high molecular compound is applied on the elecctrode substrate, is dried, and subsequently, it is hardened by heating it up to approximately 100W250°C.
