Abstract
PURPOSE: To enhance the mixing efficiency of combusting gas and diluted waste gas by arranging stacks of hexagonal columnar blocks or blocks having blow holes in the furnace.
CONSTITUTION: In a heating furnace, the cylindrical combustion chamber 11 consists of a burner 12 at its end, a diluting-gas injection opening 13 on the peripheral surface near the burner, a gas outlet 14 at the other end, and a stacked body 22 of two types of blocks 15, 16 stacked in the cumbustion chamber 11. Into the combustion chamber 11, combusting gas is injected from the burner 12; and from the injection opening 13, part of waste gas containing much CO, such as sintered waste gas is injected as a diluting waste gas. These gases pass through the blow holes 20 of the blocks 15, 16 and the gaps 21 between them. At this time, the blocks 15, 16 form resistance against the flow of mixed gas, and produce eddy current downstream. This accelerates mixing of the gas, and results in enhanced efficiency of exothermic oxidation reaction of CO.
